Sustainability

The three Mokinba pillars

1. People First

The quality of hospitality comes from the well-being of those who make it possible. We put people at the center: staff, guests, suppliers, neighbors.

Respect for work: attention to shifts, hours, safety, and working conditions. Continuous training: hospitality, safety, communication, customer management. Inclusive environments: commitment to making hotels accessible and welcoming for everyone. Listening: internal and external feedback as a basis for improvement.

2. Concrete Ecology

We believe in sustainability that can be seen and measured: less waste, lower consumption, more attention in daily choices.

Energy: optimizing lights and air conditioning, using sensors in common areas.
Water: watching consumption and constantly maintaining systems.
Waste: organized recycling and reducing single-use plastic.
Food waste: more careful management of breakfasts and buffets to limit waste.

3. Transparency & Trust

We prefer facts over promises. We communicate in a simple, honest, and verifiable way.

No greenwashing: we avoid empty phrases and superficial certifications.
Real data: we share our progress with clear numbers.
Ethical code: a commitment against unfair practices and lack of respect.
Open dialogue: every criticism is an opportunity to improve.

What we actually do

Not everything is perfect, but every year we take a step forward. Some of the actions
already started or in the process of being implemented:

  • Reducing single-use plastics in rooms and common areas, where possible.
  • Optimizing energy consumption with sensors and smarter settings.
  • More careful management of breakfasts to reduce food waste.
  • Organized recycling for staff and guests.
  • More conscious purchasing choices (concentrated products, refills, local suppliers when possible).

Our hotels, our territory

Each Mokinba hotel has its own story and character. Sustainability adapts to each one, without changing its essence.

Mokinba Hotel Montebianco

A historic hotel, close to CityLife and MiCo. Here we work to combine tradition and careful resource use, with a focus on the comfort of those traveling for events and conferences.

Mokinba Hotel Baviera

A reference point for business travelers. Here, the priority is to ensure peace, comfort, and an efficient stay, integrating solutions to reduce waste and consumption without complicating guests’ lives.

Mokinba Hotel King

In the heart of the city, ideal for exploring Milan on foot. We promote more sustainable travel and suggest local routes and activities, while also reducing plastic use and improving waste management.

Mokinba Hotel Sant’Ambroeus

Family-friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Here, sustainability is especially about nurturing relationships, paying attention to accessibility and from small everyday gestures that make guests feel at home.

Our measurable commitments

To avoid greenwashing, we are committed to tracking some key indicators and improving over time. A few examples:

  • Energy: kWh per occupied room.
  • Water: liters of water per guest.
  • Waste: percentage of waste recycled.
  • Plastic: gradual reduction of single-use products.
  • Food waste: monitoring food waste at breakfast.
  • People: annual training hours and initiatives for staff wellbeing.

We will periodically publish a short update on our progress, in a simple and easy-to-understand way.

How Guests Can Help

We’re not asking for sacrifices, just small gestures that, added together, make a big difference.

  • Towels and Sheets: follow the in-room instructions for changing them.
  • Energy: turn off lights and air conditioning when not needed.
  • Waste: use the designated bins where available.
  • Getting Around: when possible, choose to walk or use public transport.
  • Feedback: let us know your ideas and suggestions for improvements.

A journey, not a destination

We know we’re not perfect and we don’t pretend to be. But every day we try to do a little better than yesterday, with seriousness, respect, and without fooling ourselves. If you want to learn more about our initiatives or share a suggestion, you can contact us directly: we’ll be happy to hear from you.
